Best Bluesky starter packs for authors

There are 3,200+ starter packs in the Authors category on Bluesky. That's a lot of noise. Here are the ones I'd actually recommend joining.



Indie authors to support (464371, @anyespiritual.bsky.social, 243+ members) is one of the bigger author packs. Broad range of indie writers across genres. Good starting point if you just want to fill your feed with authors who are active on the platform.



Indie/Small Press Authors w Books 2024-2025 (18237, @amystuber.com, 151+ members) is more focused—authors with books out in 2024 or 2025. Useful if you want to discover recent releases from small press and self-published writers.



Authors/Writers (355104, @jodywagner.bsky.social, 154+ members) is a general-purpose author pack. Mix of fiction and nonfiction writers.



Danmei friends (63834, @rijsixmj.bsky.social, 151+ members) is for fans and translators of Chinese BL fiction. Specific community, but active.



Meg's Starter Pack (68879, @megnc.bsky.social, 151+ members) is a curated mix of writers and bookish accounts. Less genre-specific, more personality-driven.



Biodiversity Science-Policy 1 (7212, @ipbes.net, 151+ members) is an outlier here—it's science-policy authors focused on biodiversity. If you write or read in that space, it's the pack to join.
